Stadion Poljud – Split, Croatia

Stadion PoljudUp next I have the first of a couple of nice tracks from Croatia.  This one today is found at Stadion Poljud, in the city of Split.  It was built in 1979, and opened to host the 1979 Mediterranean Games.  Since then the track has been used for the 1990 European Athletics Championships and the 2010 IAAF Continental Cup.  The stadium has been renovated a few times, and at its largest, could seat 62,000 people.  The current capacity is now 35,000.  The track has eight lanes with all field events on the inside.  You get a great look at the stadium with a virtual 360-degree tour from multiple locations inside HERE.  Be sure to check it out.  The location of this facility is also pretty nice, with the Adriatic Sea less that 200m to the west.
