I happened to just stumble across yesterday’s track in Gaborone, at the University of Botswana. After doing some research, I was caught off guard when I noticed that Botswana’s National Stadium was just a half mile away. A major renovation was started on this facility in 2008, but ran into some major issues. It was eventually completed in 2013 and is now open and being used. During this renovation, the old red track was replaced with this new blue surface. This track has eight full lanes, and all field events are found on the inside. The bleachers at this stadium are kind of unique. There are ten different sections, and all are pretty decent size. All together, they can seat up to 22,000 people. The infield is grass, which was being installed in the satellite photo above.
