Yesterday’s “track” at Travis Air Force Base was certainly a one-of-a-kind track. About a mile away though, there is a real track, and it looks like a nice one. This is the home facility of Vanden High School and is used by the Vikings track & field teams. This whole facility was recently renovated with a new track surface and artificial turf. They have a really nice large area for the jumps outside the north end. Given how much space they have though, I’m kind of surprised that they didn’t put a sandpit on both ends of the two long and triple jump runways. The shot put and discus areas are right outside that end as well, so all the field events are pretty close to each other which is a good design.
