The next arctic track in Norway is located in Andenes. This is another nice-looking, all-weather track, that is very similar to the previous few tracks. It is a red surface with six full lanes, and eight lanes on the main straightaway – the same as most tracks in northern Norway. The sandpits for the horizontal jumps are on the inside of the track here, along with the other field events. Andenes is located at the very northern tip of the island of Andøya, and has a population of just under 3,000. Despite being above the arctic circle, the climate here doesn’t seem that cold, at least in the winter. The average high temperatures for the winter month’s are in the 30’s(F), which is warmer than here in Minnesota. The summer is a different story though, with highs of 55°F being the average in July and August.
