Estadio Regional is yet another stadium that will be used for the 2015 Copa America. Plans to refurbish this facility were started in 2009. The project did not get completed until early 2013 however. The original construction on this stadium was started in 1961 to be used for the 1962 World Cup, but it was not completed in time for various reasons. It eventually opened in 1964. With the latest remodeling that was done, a new 8-lane Rekortan track surface was installed. The seats here look pretty cool, with the two polar bears. The stadium’s location is pretty nice too, between the ocean (just 200 meters away) on one side, and mountains off to the other side.
