Estadio Olímpico Ciudad de Ibarra – Ibarra, Ecuador

Estadio Olímpico Ciudad de IbarraWith temps in the single digits today in Minnesota, it sure would be nice to be in Ecuador, training at Estadio Olímpico Ciudad de Ibarra.  This stadium was built in 1988.  It was last renovated in 1995, most likely when this track surface was installed.  It’s hard to tell though, because it looks like it’s still in pretty good shape.  The current seating capacity inside the stadium is 18,600 people.  It looks like it is part of a larger sports complex.  There appears to be a velodrome to the south of the track, along with a couple other buildings.  There is also a separate short, 4-lane straightaway to the east of that.  From what I found HERE, it looks like the national team uses this track to train on, at least part of the time.

The video below is not the greatest quality, but you do get a look at the stadium and track.
