This past weekend the NCAA Cross Country championships were held. The Division I meet was held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, and was hosted by Indiana State University. The Sycamores also have a pretty nice facility for track & field. Marks Field has been their home since 1966. It was remodeled in 1992 including a new track surface. This blue track has eight lanes, with multiple options for field events. The are two double runways for the long and triple jumps inside the main straightaway. The pole vault pit can be approach from all four directions, based on the wind. The are two runways for the javelin, and two discus/hammer cages on the inside as well. And on top of it all, the are two different areas for the shot put, with multiple rings for both. This is a pretty impressive set-up. It’s been a couple of years since Indiana State has had a home meet, but there are two scheduled for 2015. The even more exciting news is that those two meets will held at their brand new, 9-lane track & field facility. Based on the photos HERE, this looks like it’s going to be amazing. And of course, it will be blue. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
