Estadio Brigido Iriarte – Caracas, Venezuela

Estadio Brígido IriarteThe next track in this Venezuelan series is found in Caracas, in what is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, stadium locations in the country.  The original national stadium was located on this spot, and it opened in 1936.  In 1983, it was completely rebuilt as Venezuela prepared to host the Pam American games that year.  A new track surface was installed at Estadio Brigido Iriarte in 2005.  More renovations occurred in 2007, when all the bigger stadium were being improved as well.  There is permanent seating for 8,000 spectators here, but additional chairs can accommodate four to five thousand more.  This looks like a nice facility for track & field.  From what I can tell, it looks like the national championship meet is held here.  And based on the photos that I could find, it looks like a pretty scenic background as well.
