The Ragin’ Cajuns of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and their home track is next in this Sun Belt Conference series. The Cajuns Track/Soccer Complex opened in 1976 when it was used just for track & field. Soccer was added in 2005, and they now use this field as well. According to the athletic’s website, the track has nine full lanes and ten on the straightaway. This is clearly not the case when looking at the photo. Either way, the track looks pretty nice. Most field events here are found outside the oval to the south and the west. I think this is the first time that I’ve seen two crossing shot put sectors before. There are also two additional shot put rings and the hammer/discus cage across the street to the northwest, that were cropped out of the satellite photo. The Ragin’ Cajuns have hosted the Sun Belt outdoor conference meet numerous times over the years. The last time was in 2012, the sixth time it has been held here. This upcoming season, the Cajuns will have one home meet in late March.
