Wendel D. Ley Track – Houston, TX

Ley TrackContinuing with the Conference USA track series, today we are in Texas at Rice University.  This facility goes way back to 1910 when it was originally dedicated.  The first track here was cinder, and it lasted all the way until 1980 when their first all-weather surface was installed.  In 2009, it was upgraded again with this awesome looking blue track from Beynon Sports Surfaces.  The blue color is a little darker than most, and it looks great with the white lane lines.  There is one hammer/discus cage on the inside by the javelin area, but there are two more located outside, one on each end.  There are three long runways outside the back straight with a pit on each end.  Two for the long and triple jumps, and one runway for the pole vault.  The Owls hosted two meets here in addition to the conference meet last spring.
