Taipei Municipal Stadium – Taipei City, Taiwan

Taipei Municipal StadiumToday’s track was the site of the 2014 Asian Junior Championships.  Taipei Municipal Stadium has a long history dating back to 1956 when it first opened.  It was completely demolished and rebuilt, opening again in 2009 with the version you see in the Bing photo above.  Google still has the old one in their satellite photo, and it can be viewed HERE.  This new track has the great-looking blue surface, which replaced a red one at the old stadium.  It looks to be a Mondo surface, with a lighter blue color in the D-zones.  It looks really nice.  They also have a second smaller warm-up track just outside to the west.  Here is a video of a 4×100 relay heat were you can see the track and part of the stadium:
