While black is the most common color of high school tracks in Minnesota (probably because its cheaper and the snow melts off faster in the spring), red seems to be the color of choice in the Marmonte League of the Los Angeles area. Newbury Park High School however is the exception. The Panthers‘ school colors are black and gold, so a black track only seem appropriate. Like most of the other schools in their league, NPHS also has nine full lanes. The field events here are both on the inside and outside of the track. The artificial turf was installed in 2004. The track surface was also installed that fall, replacing the cinder track that had been here before that.
