Up next in this Egyptian track series, is the track found at Port Said Stadium. This stadium was built in 1955, and was renovated in 2005 or 2006. There is seating here for 18,000 people. This is an interesting stadium design. It almost looks like the east end was detached and moved out, so they would have room to add in the two runways. I’ve never seen one that looks quite like this. Unfortunately, this stadium also has a sad, recent history. In 2012, there was a riot here after a soccer game, that left 74 people dead. Maybe they should have more track meets here instead.
