I just posted the college tracks of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area earlier in the week. Now I’m going to post a few from the rest of the state. Starting down in Winona, the track at St. Mary’s University is today’s track of the day. This is another new facility from when I competed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The Cardinals‘ home is very nice, with nine full lanes. The soccer teams also use this field, which is an artificial turf. All field events are found on the outside of the track except for the high jump. To the west, you notice the large area for all the runways. The throws are off to the north. The water barrier for the steeplechase is a little different from most tracks. It’s more toward the start of the curve, rather than right in the middle. St. Mary’s held one home meet here this season, the SMU Cardinal Open. There is a photo gallery of the meet and the track HERE.
