And finally, the last in the Big Sky Conference track series is the University of North Dakota. A good friend of mine was actually a sprinter here, and another played softball for UND. And being a border state to Minnesota, I have had numerous former students who attend(ed) college here after graduating. UND is a fairly new school to the conference, joining in 2012.
Memorial Stadium has a long history, dating back to 1927. It holds 10,000 fans, and hosted football games until 2000, when the Alerus Center opened. Today it is used by both track & field and football for practice and training. The current track surface was installed way back in 1985, so it’s getting pretty old. The artificial turf was upgraded in 2007. I’d like to say I saved the best for last, but for the Big Sky, unfortunately it’s the opposite is the case. This is easily the worst track of the conference, and it’s not even close.
