The NCAA Indoor National Championship Meet going on the weekend in Albuquerque, it can only mean one thing – college outdoor track & field is about to begin. It’s been a while since I’ve posted some college tracks, so it seems like a perfect time to start doing so again. I’m going to start with the schools of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
The track today is found at Welcome Stadium, and is
home of the Flyers track & field teams from the University of Dayton. Even though the university uses this facility, it is actually owned and operated by the Dayton Public School district. It is an 11,000-seat multi-use facility, that originally opened in 1949. The Ohio high school state meet was actually held here from 1999 until 2003. This looks like a nice track, and as you can see, there is plenty of parking available.
*Update: Twitter user @BP_12 has provided me with some additional information on this track. As it turns out, the University of Dayton does not use this track after all. Apparently the school district charges too much to rent the facility, so the university built their own track instead. BP is not impressed with what they have now.
