Queen Elizabeth II Park – Christchurch, New Zealand

Queen Elizabeth II ParkMoving on from Guam to a few more Oceania tracks before wrapping up this series.  Today’s track was found in Christchurch, New Zealand, but I have sadly come to find that it no longer exists.  Queen Elizabeth II Park first opened in 1975 and had a seating capacity of 25,000 people.  It was the site of many big competitions as well as OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAbeing a major concert venue.  The stadium however was severely damaged by the 2010 Canterbury Earthquake.  After reopening, it was completely done in by the Christchurch Earthquake, just a year and a half after the first one.  Being damaged beyond repair, it was torn down in 2012.  It’s too bad, because this looks like it was a very nice venue.
