Hippo Stadium – Hutto, TX

Hutto High SchoolStaying in Texas, yesterday it was Porcupine Stadium, today its Hippo Stadium.  Found in Hutto, at Hutto High School, this facility was built in 1998, and has a seating capacity of 6,000 people.  For track & field, Hippothis looks like a nice design, and is especially good for the jumpers.  There are six different sand pits on four runways.  There are also four different pole vault pits.  The hippo mascot has an interesting background story.  Rumor has it that a traveling circus came through Austin (which is not far from Hutto) some time ago, and a hippopotamus had escaped.  It was later found in a creek in Hutto, and became the choice for the new mascot.
