The track today is found in Greece, and is in one of the stadiums used in 2004 for the Summer Olympics. Kaftanzoglio Stadium wasn’t used for athletics though. It was one of the sites for soccer. This is still a fantastic facility for track and field, and it has been the site of many big competitions, including several IAAF series meets, the Mediterranean Games and European Cup. Construction on this stadium began in 1956, it opened in 1960, and was most recently renovated in 2004. It has a current seating capacity of 27,770. And not only does it have an additional warm-up track just outside the stadium, there are also two others that are very close.
