With the World Championships going on in Russia right now, I’ve decided to post a few more Russian tracks. Petrovsky Stadium in St. Petersburg has a great looking blue track, but its location is the thing that makes the venue somewhat unique. It built on an island in the Malaya Neva River, and is completely surrounded by water. The adjacent secondary track at the sports complex, is a separate island. Very unique, with some spectacular views, as you can see in the photos. While it has been renovated several times, I’m surprised to find out that this is actually an old stadium. It opened back in 1925.
