The Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – London, UK

120416 LOCOG Aerials_043On the one-year anniversary of the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, the Diamond League comes back to The Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Park.  The Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games start today and conclude tomorrow, with the paralympians competing on Sunday.  Results will be available HERE.

A couple of weeks ago, Mark from White Line Services International was nice enough to send me some photos from last summer when they were preparing the track for the Games.  You can see exactly how they painted the rings on the track.  Very cool!

In the past, sometimes Olympic stadiums get converted or changed for other uses, and the track gets removed.  Not so with this one.  The World Championships will be held here in 2017.
