Stade de France – Paris, France

Quartier_du_Cornillon_et_Stade_de_FranceIt’s another Diamond League track again today.  This time it’s at the Stade de France, the national stadium, for the Meeting Areva.  The meet takes place later this evening.  Results will be available HERE.  This is a huge stadium that took almost three years to build.  It opened in 1998, in time for the World Cup.  This stadium holds 80,000 fans, making it one of the largest in Europe.

Because of the covered seats, the track is not really visible from the aerial satellite photos of Google or Bing.  And for football games, they pull the bleachers out, covering half the track as well.  Fortunately, Marc Adams of White Lines Services International was so kind to send me some pictures from inside the stadium of the track, while they were repainting the lines, getting ready for today’s meet.  Notice how the bleachers are pushed in under the second deck, so there is room for the track.  Thanks Marc!  The track looks beautiful!
