Today’s track pic comes from the island of St. Lucia. George Odlum Stadium is not the largest stadium in the country (there are two cricket stadiums that are much larger) but it is considered the national stadium, and is used for track & field as well as soccer. It was built in 2002, and like most of the new tracks in Africa, was financed by the Chinese government. The were major upgrades done to this facility in 2008 or 2009, but are not reflected in the Google photo, because the track is still appears red. The new surface is a really cool looking track, with alternating blue and gray lanes, all the way around. Extra throwing areas, and jump runways were also added.
