And finally, today we have our 8th Big 12 Conference track (out of a possible 10 schools) for Team USA. The track today is located in my neighboring state of Iowa, and on the campus of Iowa State University. 10,000m runner Lisa Uhl was a distance runner for the Cyclones. In London she ran a personal best time of 31:12.80, just .12 behind teammate Janet Cherobon-Bawcom, to finish 13th. This was great team running by the US to go 11-12-13, all with PB times!
As you may be able to tell from the picture, the Cyclone Sports Complex is actually a brand new facility that is being built right now. (So technically, Uhl did not use this track when she was at ISU.) While I can’t find an information on when it will be finished, it appears like it might be ready by this spring. The mondo surface has been installed, but no lane lines yet. Iowa State is probably best known for its indoor track, especially in the Midwest. The track at the Lied Rec Center is a 300-meter track, making it one of the largest/fastest indoor tracks in the world. Teams from all over travel to Ames each winter to get some fast times.
