Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum – Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles hosted the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, and track & field was held at the Coliseum.  One of the most famous sports venues in the world, the Coliseum was built in 1921.  Several renovations have been done over the years.  The track was added specifically for the ’84 Olympics.  It has since been removed.  Both the Los Angeles Rams and Raiders played their home games here.  It is currently the home for USC Trojans football.

  2. You don’t remember track and field at the 1932 Olympics, do you? My grandfayjer wrestled at those Olympics at the Sports Arena, which is still adjacent to this stadium.

  3. Oops! I just remembered Burrell wrestled at the Olympic Auditorium at 1801 S Grand Ave. Hey, it’s been 82 years. Cut me some slack.

  4. Great story Mike! No, 1932 was before my time, but thanks for making me feel old. After doing the math, I just realized that my birth date is ten years closer to the 1932 Olympics than today’s date!
