Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium – Austin, TX

I have been trying to hold off repeating tracks that I have already posted previously, but there are too many Team USA members, including some of the sport’s superstars, that came from this college track.   I can’t put off re-posting the Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium at the University of Texas any longer.  The question is who to start with first.

Being a 400m runner in college (and still kind of one now at the masters level) I am a little partial to that event, so I am a huge fan of former Longhorn and quarter-mile superstar Sanya Richards-Ross.  She is just dominant, and I’m excited to see her in the 200m in London as well.

As a strength & conditioning coach, I have always been fascinated with athletic ability in all kinds of different ways, and those who compete in the multi-events (decathlon & heptathlon) are truly impressive. Former Longhorn and two-time world champion decathlete Trey Hardee definitely fits this bill.

Another Team USA member from Texas is mainstay is shot putter Michelle Carter, who made her second Olympic team by finishing second at the trials.  And on the men’s side we have miler Leo Manzano who qualified for his second Olympic team by winning the 1500m at the trials.  I’ve been a fan of Manzano’s since his senior season at Texas.  And last, but not least, we have current Longhorn long jumper, and two-time USA  national champion Marquise Goodwin, who has one more year of calling Mike A. Myer track as home.  This is one impressive group of Texas Longhorns!
