I have previously posted the Dan McClimon Track Complex earlier, but after yesterday’s performance by Team USA member Evan Jager, I had to put it up again. Jager broke the American record in the steeplechase at the Monaco Herculis meet in an impressive race. Race highlights can be watched HERE. Jager attended the University of Wisconsin, but left after his junior year with his coach Jerry Schumacher, to turn pro and join Oregon TC Elite. What I find absolutely incredible is that Jager never ran the steeple until this year. From what I can find, it looks like his race yesterday was only the 5th time he’s competed in the event! Yet another rising star in the ever improving distance crew from the United States.
Another Team USA distance runner, and former Badger, is Matt Tegenkamp. The American record holder in the 2-mile made his second Olympic team and will be running the 10,000m, moving up from the 5k in Beijing.
Being from Minnesota and a lifelong Gopher fan, it’s a little hard to cheer for the Badgers, but in these cases, I’ll make an exception. I can’t wait to see how they do in London.
