Today I am posting a local track. This is the track at Lakeville South High School, and they are hosting the Section 1AA meet, starting today with prelims. Lakeville is located right next to Farmington (where I teach and coach), and I coached in Lakeville before North/South split when the new high school opened in 2005. When it comes to throwers, Lakeville has had a strong tradition. In fact, one alum will be at the Olympic Trials competing in the discus. When you look at the design of this facility, it’s clear that the throws coach had some input. There are 5 discus cages on the East side of the track, all facing different directions. For meets they use the one that has the best wind advantage. In the Southeast corner, you will also see five shot put circles. Pretty amazing facility for throwers! And of course, Go Tigers!
